About

The Technical Medical (TechMed) Centre is the University of Twente's (UT) institute for health technology, based in Enschede, the Netherlands. It brings together more than 650 researchers across all five of the university’s faculties, working on medical robotics, imaging technology, e-health and sensor technology, bioengeering (e.g. organ-on-a-chip) and health sciences. With state-of-the-art laboratories, preclinical testbeds and a simulated hospital environment, TechMed Centre drives the research, education and implementation needed for sustainable, personalised healthcare.

The TechMed Centre: Enabling sustainable and personalised health by means of technology.

TechMed Centre

TechMed Centre is the central innovation hub of the wider Twente and Eastern Netherlands MedTech ecosystem, connecting hospitals, healthcare providers, industry partners, government bodies and funders. Our pre-clinical test and validation infrastructure spans the Simulation & Training Centre, Biorobotics Labs, Hybrid OR and Medical Imaging Labs, Bioengineering Labs and the Health, Technology & Wellbeing (BMS) Lab, complemented by close links to UT's MESA+ nanotechnology institute and to Novel-T, the region's knowledge transfer office, for spin-off and licensing support.

We are located at the University of Twente campus in Enschede, in the east of the Netherlands, and serve as the hub of the Twente region/Eastern Netherlands MedTech ecosystem. Through our clinical, industry and university partners we also support collaborations throughout the Netherlands and internationally.
