Preventive Health Research Unit - Active Life Lab Xamk

Preventive Health Research Unit is a research and development unit established in 2018, operating under Xamk's Sustainable Wellbeing focus area. The team is multidisciplinary, combining expertise across sports and health sciences, health economics, physiotherapy, data-driven service development, productisation, and business.

For health tech and wellbeing companies, Active Life Lab is the entry point for testing preventive and lifestyle-focused solutions in an authentic environment with end users. Its work is organised across different research teams: Social and Healthcare Services, Personalized Wellbeing Interventions, Nature-based Health Services, Planetary Brain Health, and Co-Design of Effective Wellbeing Services & Testbed Activities in Ecosystems. Together they cover personalised interventions using wearables and AI, nature-based methods for health promotion, and the effects of digital and physical environments on psycho-physiological wellbeing.
