In the South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk), our Preventive Health Research Unit operates under the research, development and innovation (RDI) focus area of Sustainable Wellbeing.

Founded in 2018 as Active Life Lab, the unit combines over 20 multidisciplinary experts for reshaping sustainable health by conducting high-quality research and implementing knowledge into practice together with the partners. With an annual 4-million-euro project portfolio, we respond to growing health challenges with impactful RDI work, and aim to change the way health and wellbeing is promoted by

  • focusing on the effectiveness driven by preventive, predictive and participatory approach
  • considering not only individuals, but also the perspectives of communities, and enviroment/nature
  • creating sustainably growing business and working opportunities in the wellbeing and health industry, in the regional, national and international level.

Testbed/Contract Research Services for Health and Wellbeing Industry

We help companies develop commercially viable, customer-centred health and wellbeing solutions. Drawing on our expertise in preventive health, service development and applied research, we support organisations in anticipating and addressing emerging wellbeing challenges, promoting health proactively, and creating more personalised and inclusive approaches to wellbeing.
