Proof of concept

Validate your idea early — and confirm it solves a real problem in the health service before you invest in full development.

Description

A Proof of Concept demonstrates that a method or idea works and meets a genuine clinical need. A PoC is typically small and deliberately incomplete, designed to show the core functionality of a concept rather than a finished product.

Together with a Nordic Proof partner, your concept is tested with relevant healthcare users — clinicians, care staff, or patients — to explore whether it is interesting, useful, and functional in a real care setting. If the concept is already more developed, users can trial it early to assess how it performs in authentic clinical situations. A Proof of Concept is not a clinical trial. Where possible, it is benchmarked against existing solutions and current practice, giving clearer and more reliable insight into its potential.

Concept validation is usually a concise and rapid process, carried out as a qualitative study drawing on structured discussions, user feedback, and co-development with the people who would use your solution in daily practice.

By confirming clinical relevance and demand early, you build development on a solid foundation and significantly reduce the risk of investing resources in a solution the market doesn't need.

Quotes

  • Testing early gives the company the confidence that a solution actually meets a real need before it reaches the market – but the work doesn't stop there. It is only when we document the effect within the health care service that we see the full value: the economic gains in the form of freed-up time and reduced costs, the organisational gains in the form of better workflows and collaboration, and the clinical gains in the form of safer and better quality of care and patient benefits. This combination of early usability testing and benefits documentation is at the core of what we are offering at NHT LAB.
