The agreement was signed on 10 September 2026 at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Stockholm.
The agreement was signed by Bent-Håkon Lauritzen, Coordinator of Nordic Proof, and Remke Burie, Managing Director of the TechMed Centre at the University of Twente.
The TechMed Centre will be connected immediately to Nordic Proof as a partner in the network’s operational activities, linking Dutch and Nordic expertise, testing environments and company support.
A leading medtech ecosystem
Twente has developed a strong and closely connected medtech ecosystem where companies, healthcare providers, researchers, educational institutions and public-sector partners work together. At the heart of this ecosystem is the University of Twente’s internationally recognised TechMed Centre, with expertise and facilities for research, simulation, training and validation of medical technology.
The close links between researchers, entrepreneurs and healthcare professionals help shorten the journey from prototype to clinical practice. The ecosystem also provides access to expertise in areas including medical devices, robotics, diagnostics, sensors and data-driven healthcare.
“Joining Nordic Proof creates a direct connection between the MedTech Twente ecosystem and leading healthcare and testing environments across the Nordic countries. Together, we can give companies access to complementary expertise and support the development of technologies that make a meaningful difference for patients and healthcare professionals,” says Remke Burie of the University of Twente’s TechMed Centre.

Connecting companies with the right testing environment
Nordic Proof provides structured access to leading hospitals, healthcare institutions and testing hubs across the Nordic countries. The network helps companies identify the right expertise and test environment, plan and carry out testing and studies, and build evidence for product validation and market access.
Through the new partnership, Nordic health technology companies will gain easier access to expertise and testing opportunities in the Netherlands. Dutch companies will, in turn, be connected with relevant Nordic Proof partners and healthcare environments across the Nordic region.
“This partnership strengthens Nordic Proof’s ability to support companies across borders. Our ambition is to help health technology companies test earlier, learn faster and develop solutions that work in real healthcare settings. The competence and facilities in Twente complement our Nordic partners very well,” says Bent-Håkon Lauritzen, Coordinator of Nordic Proof.
Collaboration starts immediately
The TechMed Centre of the University of Twente will be included in Nordic Proof’s company referral processes, partner activities and development of new collaboration opportunities from the signing date.
The partners will work together to connect companies with relevant testing and co-development environments, facilitate cross-border projects and make expertise from the Netherlands and the Nordic countries more easily accessible.
The signing at the Dutch Embassy in Stockholm reflects the strong relationship between the Netherlands and the Nordic countries and a shared ambition to accelerate the development and implementation of better health technologies.
