Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital is Norway’s largest specialist hospital in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. The hospital provides multidisciplinary rehabilitation for patients with complex functional impairment following illness or injury.

The hospital provides services at both regional and national levels, and delivers services to approximately 7500 patients a year (3500 inpatients/4000 outpatients/policlinical services).

Clinical treatment, research and collaboration form the basis of the hospital’s activities. The Regional Coordination Unit (RKE) and The National Centre of Expertise for Rare Diagnoses (TRS) are also organised within the hospital. Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital is a guiding force in the acquisition of knowledge and expertise concerning rehabilitation, and hopes to take a leading role in future development in the field of rehabilitation.

The hospital has a strong focus on innovation, both related to improvement of services and/or new products. Both patients, relatives, employees, and other stakeholders contributes in the effort to be a true innovative hospital. We collaborate closely with a number of companies, serving as a testbed for verification, clinical trials or development of products. Related to the hospitals responsibilities and target groups, innovations related to movement, cognition, patient safety, robotics, gamification and virtual services are of special interest.
